Mr Mark Latimer is a superb Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. I visited him for a consultation at the Fitzwilliam Hospital, Peterborough, in March 2018 for a diagnosis on problems I had been having with my right knee (clicking and pain). Following an MRI, which revealed a "loose body" in the knee area, he performed a Right Knee Arthroscopy in June 2018, the outcome of which gave me an amazing result with instant relief from any of the previous symptoms. In recovery no pain relief was required and I was back to normal use of the knee in less than 2 weeks and, for me, no physiotherapy was necessary. Mr Latimer is very easy to talk to and explains everything in great detail as to what the problem is and his suggested treatment and, in my case, provided some hand-drawn diagrams whilst explaining the problem - which is always helpful. I thoroughly recommend him to anyone as your first choice of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon within the Peterborough area.

I found it difficult to walk upstairs properly and walking on uneven paths or up slopes was painful on my knee and was prescribed strong pain relief to help with the pain which I had taken for years. After being seen by other Consultants and various physiotherapists on and off over the past 6 years, my GP referred me to Mr Latimer. He listened to what I had to say about my symptoms and with his expertise, knowledge and experience diagnosed the problem which other clinicians had not seen. Surgery was advised which was in February 2018 and he removed the bone growth on the kneecap. After rehab at home and religiously doing the exercises set by the physio after 4 weeks I returned to work. The surgery was successful as I can walk upstairs properly, no pain whatsoever and therefore no longer take any pain relief. Thanks to Mr Latimer when I’m out and about I no longer have to look for lifts to get me from one floor to another, and have walked across the cobbles in Covent Garden without it being painful, Thank you for your excellent care.

Mr Latimer put me completely at ease about my knee replacement. He explained what the problem was with my knee and the best way to help me. He did it clearly and without being condescending or impatient. He answered all my questions carefully and thoroughly and gave me great confidence that the procedure would be successful. During and immediately after the operation Mr Latimer and his team were most caring and thoughtful and helped me to feel safe. He did an excellent operation and at my last appointment with him said how happy he was with my recovery. I can now walk quite long distances, several miles not yards, without pain and, following Mr Latimer's advice, as I continue exercising I will get even more able. I believe that Mr Mark Latimer has done a great service to me and I think he is s superb surgeon.
